Pudong Grade 1-4: The Best Stories with the Best Moms

September 29, 2019

Who doesn't enjoy interesting stories? A good storyteller can turn good stories into fascinating stories. That’s why we appreciate our story moms! In the 4thweek of PG and P&B classes, the story moms arrived at SHSID Pudong campus to begin their incredible storytelling.

The first graders welcomed our story moms for the first time, who delivered a special story,You're a Hero, Daley B,to our students. The hero of the story is a rabbit named Daley B. His life is full of questions: Who is he? Where should he live? What should he eat? Why are his feet so big? From this interesting story, students learnt about different animals in the forest and gained a better understanding of themselves. The story moms also taught the children how to encourage others by using kind words. Everyone put this into practice and expressed their gratitude to their story moms at the end of the class.

The grade two students are now familiar with the story moms, so they were so happy to see them again. This time, the story moms shared a story calledBelinda the Ballerinawith the second graders. In reading this story, the story moms wanted to show our second graders that dreams should not be restricted by looks. They even prepared special props to give a unique experience to the students.

The story moms brought the third grade students a story calledCa-Pong. This story talked about a bird who couldn’t tweet. He kept his heart closed until he found his strengths. He gradually realized that even though he is not able to tweet, he can fly in the endless sky. This story matched the growth mindset that the students have been learning about from the beginning of the semester. Students have been encouraged to show a more positive attitude when they encounter the problems.

The 4th graders were absorbed in the fantastic story the story moms were telling them—Wesley’s Kingdom. This story is a seemingly simple fairy tale that actually contains a meaningful and profound moral: stick to your principles and pursue what you truly want instead of sailing with the stream.

Not only did the story moms read stories to our students, but they also guided them to think deeply. All of the students participated and thought actively. We are so thankful that these wonderful story moms brought a meaningful afternoon to our students!
