Puxi Grade 5: Say NO to Bullying

October 27, 2022

In recent years, bullying has gained prominence as a social issue in need of public address. During Personal Growth class this week , the fifth graders had an important lesson on bullying.

First, the teachers categorized different types of bullying, and led the students in identifying instances of bullying using various examples. Then, through video and discussion, the students learned different strategies to deal with bullying appropriately and safely. The students were then divided into groups, chose their own theme, and engaged in role play to demonstrate different strategies for dealing with bullying. They discussed and analyzed the scenes together, and helped their peers to act out successful scenarios and responses. Finally, students made posters to advocate against bullying, and wrote kind notes to express their appreciation of their classmates and teachers.

Through bullying education, we aimed to encourage students to develop deeper understanding of their classmates, kindness towards each other, and a sense of social cohesion and community.
