November 25, 2022

The American Mathematics Competition (AMC) is a math competition sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) for middle and high school students all around the world. The competition currently includes over 300,000 participants from more than 6,000 schools worldwide and is one of the most influential youth math competitions in the world. The development and creation of AMC test questions are the sole responsibility of the American AMC Committee, whose members are from top universities in the United States such as MIT, Harvard, and Princeton.

Mathematical thinking events in the United States include AMC8/10/12, AIME, USA(J)MO, with AMC8 mainly being aimed at 8th graders and below (middle and upper primary school students). AMC10/12 is mainly aimed at students in 10th or 12th grade and below respectively. AIME is mainly for students who have achieved outstanding results in AMC10/12.

Through the design of rigorous questions, AMC bolsters students' problem-solving skills and develops their interest in math. It has not only promoted the widespread development of mathematics globally, but has provided a foundation for international colleges and universities to grasp the mathematical academic achievements of applicants.

In the newly released AMC12 exam results, 8-12 Bill from SHSID middle school has achieved a top score of 138 (full score 150). Bill's enthusiasm and commitment to mathematical learning have set a prime example for other students at SHSID. It is an unyielding belief that more and more outstanding students will strive to utilize their strengths and gain prestige for themselves and the school!
