Middle and Primary School English Department: English Learner Support—Development Through Action

October 25, 2021

Building on the success of last year, the Middle School English Learner Support program has continued to expand.

The Friday lunchtime support session was set up last academic year to support all students with their English studies. Students that attend are provided with individualized support to clarify and extend classroom learning. Based on the school’s mission of cultivating independent learners, students attend on their own accord, showing initiative and a will to improve.

This year, the support sessions has branched out to accommodate for the growing demand. Each grade meets at a specific time and location with a leading teacher from each grade, Mr. McCall for Grade 6, Mr. Key for Grade 7, and Mr. Ross for Grade 8. Most sessions this semester have attracted over 50 students, all of whom show a determination for improvement with their fundamental English skills.

The department hopes that this will continue to grow and evolve this academic year as we continue to champion the development of our fantastic students.
