SHSID Establishes Partnerships with Two Institutions to Boost Students’ Development

Shanghai High School International Division (SHSID) established partnerships and signed cooperation agreements with the School of Information Science and Engineering, of the East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST), and Shanghai Institute of Geological Survey on October 20. The cooperation is pivotal to systematically prepare students in the scope of information technology and natural resource science, enhance students’ comprehensive abilities, and promote scientific, technological, and cultural exchanges, contributing to SHSID building a world class research-oriented and innovative basic education institution in China.

Agreement signed between SHSID and the School of Information Science and Engineering, of ECUST

On the morning of Oct.20, Mr. Liu Lian, SHSID middle and primary school principal, signed a cooperation agreement with Prof. Guo Weibin, vice dean of the School of Information Science and Engineering, ECUST. Leaders from the institution, Party Secretary Prof. Shi Hongbo, vice party sectary Prof. Yang Wen, information technology experimental teaching center director Prof. Yang Fuqin, and dean assistant Prof. Tan Shuai, and leaders from Shanghai High School (SHS) and SHSID, Mr. Wanghui, SHS party secretary, Ms. Luo Hua, SHSID middle and primary school affairs center, and Ms. Yao Shenghua, SHSID middle and primary school science & technology head instructor, attended the signing ceremony.

Prof. Shi Hongbo, party secretary of the School of Information Science and Engineering, of ECUST, said at the ceremony, “By utilizing our school’s scientific research and technology innovation platforms, we will extend our support and work together with SHS to improve students’ innovation and research abilities and practical skills to make new contributions to China’s mission of training high-level innovative talents.

Mr. Wang Hui, party secretary of Shanghai High School, Wang Hui, gave a warm welcome and expressed sincere appreciation for the visit and strong support of the School of Information Science and Engineering, ECUST. “With a commitment to ‘cultivating global citizens who love science and identify with China and Chinese Culture,’ the agreement reinforced the cooperation of SHS and ECUST on enhancing students’ knowledge and experience in the field of information science and engineering,” said Mr. Wanghui.

The agreement involved research, theme programs, and many other participation possibilities that students would benefit from. After the ceremony, the guests visited the school’s laboratories in the Engineering Building, the ice rink, innovative labs, and laser shooting room in the Zhongxing Building, accompanied by Mr. Liu Lian, Ms. Luo Hua, and Ms. Yao Shenghua.

Agreement signed between SHSID and Shanghai Institute of Geological Survey

The cooperation agreement was signed by Mr. Liu Lian, SHSID middle and primary school principal, and Mr. He Zhongfa, technology head of Shanghai Institute of Geological Survey, on the afternoon of Oct.20. Leaders from the Shanghai Institute of Geological Survey, dean of the Institute Mr. Fang Guo’an, director of the general office Mr. Wang Chaoling, director of engineering office Ms. Yang Lijun, and director engineer of land subsidence institute Mr. Zhan Qing, attended the signing ceremony.

The visit from the Shanghai Institute of Geological Survey was warmly welcomed, and SHSID was looking forward to collaborating with the institution.

Mr. Fang Guo’an, dean of the Shanghai Institute of Geological Survey, introduced the institution and the achievements it has made. “With the exceptional facilities and scientific laboratories, we hope to help students extend their study of earth science, promote harmony with nature, and support students’ all-around development,” Mr. Fang Guo’an said.

Mr. Feng Zhigang, SHS principal, introduced the education philosophy and students’ learning experiences at SHS and SHSID. Principal Feng said at the ceremony, “I hope that students will be given more opportunities, find what they are really interested in, and develop a scientific approach to learning and research while exploring in the field of environmental science, with the joint efforts from Shanghai Institute of Geological Survey.”

They discussed how they will conduct the collaboration in terms of students’ research and programs during the ceremony. After the ceremony, the guests visited the school facilities and laboratories, accompanied by SHSID school leaders. They discussed the opportunities available to boost students’ development and meet students’ needs with the facilities and learning resources.

SHSID advocates preparing students to be future global citizens with a strong attachment to China. The agreements strengthen the collaboration between SHSID and East China University of Science and Technology, and Shanghai Institute of Geological Survey by offering new approaches to guide students in the studies of information technology and natural resource. The next step for our school is to continue learning from the experience, consolidate innovation education, and promote students’ overall abilities.
