Grade 6: CCST helps to Keep Classroom Clean and Tidy

September 30, 2021

At the beginning of the fall 2021 semester, grades 4-7 relocated to the new Zhongxing building. The Zhongxing building is bright and spacious, with water purifiers, electronic whiteboards, lockers to keep personal belongings, and other convenient facilities providing a comfortable study environment for students. To maintain the cleanliness of the new facilities, some students have volunteered to join the Classroom Cleanness Service Team (CCST). CCST is composed of volunteers from all grade 6 classes, and its main task is helping students to develop good health habits through daily duty-checks after lunch.

CCST begins duty-checking at 11:50 A.M. The following are the requirements for a perfect duty-check score: no rubbish on the floor, tables and chairs are pushed in, desks are cleared, whiteboard is cleaned, and schoolbags are placed nicely in their lockers. The CCST volunteers from each class check duty for just one week. On the first checking day, Mr. Zou, the teacher in charge of CCST, teaches the volunteers how to perform the duty check efficiently and thoroughly. Mr. Zou specially stressed that the purpose of duty checking is not to deduct points, but rather to help students understand how to maintain a clean and tidy environment. If the students on duty improve the duty situation, they can earn the points back.

After a week of trial, the duty competition officially started in the 4th week of school, and the duty score will be announced on every Monday. By the end of the semester, the top classes of duty checking will receive awards. We believe that with the impressive efforts of CCST and the participation of all 6th graders, the 6th grade classrooms will remain clean enough for students to study comfortably in a welcoming environment.
