An Encouraging Win for the Stallions

September 30, 2021

On Monday, September 26th, the SHSID Stallions U19 Men’s Volleyball Team played their second game of the Season against SUIS WY Wolves. Both teams played ferociously, and in the end, the Stallions achieved an encouraging victory against their long-time rival, besting the Wolves 2 sets to 0.

The Stallions kicked the game off with 3 consecutive points, bolstering confidence immediately. Near the 15-point mark, a timeout was called by the Wolves’ coach as they tried to slow down the Stallions’ momentum, but the Stallions persevered. Blunders were made by both teams, but the Stallions pulled through with solid serving and offense, gradually widening the score gap against the Wolves. When they reached 20:9, the Stallions pressed hard on their weakened opponents, blasting through their defenses with powerful spikes from the outside and middle hitters. In the end, the Stallions took the first set with an impressive score of 25:12.

Coming back from half time, the Wolves rebuilt their confidence, and the Stallions faced serious retaliation. The Wolves changed tactics, focusing their attack by setting every single ball to their most powerful hitter. The Stallions were caught on a weak rotation, and stumbled in the beginning of the second set. Thankfully, the Stallions quickly adapted their defense to counter this new play style. To strike back at their opponents, the Stallions started using more complicated attacks such as quick attacks and back-row attacks. The Stallions didn’t disappoint, and they left the Wolves guessing what their next attack will be. With their opponents unable to defend the aggressive attacks, the Stallions quickly ramped up their score to 25:14, winning their second game of the season.

The victory against SUIS WY solidified the Stallions’ position at the top of the league. The next game shall be against the formidable KCIS on September 30th at 5:30 in the school gym. Hope to you see on the sidelines as the Stallions strive for a third victory!
