Lingang Campus: Fire Drill

September 29, 2021

Safety is always the top priority for a harmonious campus. During the Month of Safety this September, in order for all students to increase their understanding of safety and improve their self-rescue abilities in the face of fire emergencies, the first fire drill officially commenced during PG class on the 29th of September at SHSID Lingang campus.

Before the fire drill, each class had a “heated” discussion about why fire drills at school are important and the survival and self-rescue skills to handle a fire emergency. Teachers demonstrated in a variety of ways (such as pictures, videos, and modeling, to name a few) to help the kids learn and build up better safety awareness.

At 2:30, the fire alarm went off. All students lined up very quickly and nicely. They covered their mouths and noses, bent their heads down, and evacuated through the designated passages. The homeroom teachers checked and accounted for every student, to ensure all of them came out safe and sound. The first fire drill at Lingang Campus was conducted effectively, and all the students, teachers, and staff demonstrated calmness and cooperation throughout the whole process.

This emergency evacuation practice was a wonderful safety lesson for the first graders. To maintain a secure and comfortable learning environment for students, every teacher at Lingang Campus always pays extra attention to safety management and reminds the students of safety guidelines in terms of hallway behaviors, lunch etiquette, PE class procedures, shuttle bus rules, and so on—all working towards the goal of building up a safe culture for all children to learn and grow.
