High School Physics Department: Watching Mr.Yang Zhenning's Academic Thought Seminar

September 27, 2021

On the afternoon of September 22, Mr. Yang Zhenning's academic thought seminar was held at Tsinghua University. At the meeting, Mr. Yang delivered a speech on the topic of "We will live as long as we can! Though miles apart, we'll share the common way." In the teaching building of SHSID, many classes watched the seminar online with their teachers.

There are two most famous academic achievements of Yang Zhenning: Yang-mills theory in 1954 and law of non-conservation of parity in 1956. He ranked among the top physicists with the former, and won the Nobel Prize in 1957 with Mr. Li Zhengdao with the latter. At the Nobel prize presentation ceremony, the judges once commented on their contributions: "Your unremitting efforts have broken the most puzzling deadlock in basic-particle physics, and your brilliant achievements have led to the vigorous development of current theoretical and experimental work."

Many students were filled with emotion by watching the seminar. They not only understood Mr. Yang's outstanding academic achievements and contributions to national development, but also were moved by Mr. Yang's dedication to science at the age of 100.

We hope the students can stick to their original intention and make continuous progress. We will live as long as we can! Though miles apart, we'll share the common way.
