Puxi Campus Grade 5: Stage Play “Microscopic Exploration of Health Protection” at Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center

The popular science stage play “Microscopic Exploration of Health Protection” opened again, jointly created by Institut Pasteur of Shanghai, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Shanghai High School International Division. On September 19th, under the guidance of the director and screenwriter team, the little actors of SHSID fifth grade completed three stage performances at the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center. The scene was packed, and each show received full of flowers and applause.

Before the show, the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai Chinese Academy of Sciences also invited Dr. Zhang Wenhong to record a welcome video for the play, leading everyone to explore the magical world of microorganisms. With the scientific, intellectual, interesting, and artistic features displayed in this drama, Dr. Zhang Wenhong hopes to encourage everyone to discover science in their lives and use science to explain life.

People’s Daily, Shanghai Education TV, The Paper, Xinmin Evening News, and many other mainstream media were present to report on the extraordinary performance.

The drama was divided into four acts in total, demonstrating the process of viruses invading the human body, the counterattack of the immune system, and the role of vaccines. We hope to use science to explain life, eliminate misunderstandings, treat the occurrence and prevention of diseases rationally, and promote to the audience to develop better living habits and behaviors for a good health. As a popular science drama, its soul is to teach the scientific principles of viruses, immunization, and vaccines. The interspersed scientific performance showed in the drama, inviting the audience to conduct experiments, and fun interactions, have created unique, exciting live theater experiences.
