Grade 7: Youth Development Course—Safety

September 15, 2021

There is one thing that is fundamental to our well-being and life that we should keep in mind, and that exceeds the importance of all other elements in our lives. Yes, that is right—safety. Safety is emphasized throughout our lives, mostly by parents and other adults. Realizing that just knowing that being safe is extremely important isn’t enough, the teachers made safety the subject of the second YD (youth development) class. In order to make students fully understand the concept of safety and how to be safe, teachers organized a system with five parts: personal safety, building safety, classroom safety, bus safety, and COVID-19 safety.

To start with, personal safety is the safety of oneself and the people around him or her. Building safety can be categorized into two parts. First, running in the hallway is strictly forbidden since a collision with other individuals can cause serious injury. Secondly, jumping and climbing in the school building is strictly forbidden. Classroom safety is also extremely important. This can be categorized into two categories. First, ask permission before doing things. Students must ask whether or not is it okay to leave the classroom. Second, follow instructions on using various types of equipment. Bus safety is also essential. This can be categorized into three parts. First, the students should not lean on windows, but they must stay seated. Secondly, when entering or exiting the bus, order in the queue is extremely important. Lastly, do not put things in the aisle since someone can accidentally trip over them. Last but not least, COVID-19 safety is of the utmost importance. The best way to keep away from getting infected by any kind of disease is to wear a mask and to your wash hands as often as possible. It is also essential to listen to and follow directions that are given by adults that are helpful to the prevention and protection from diseases. After learning this knowledge and these rules about safety, the students also deepened their understanding of campus safety through self-made sitcoms and safety crossword puzzles.

All people should know how to be safe and secure in their lives and consider safety measures carefully and thoughtfully no matter which points they are in their lives. We hope everyone can have a safe and successful semester!
