Grade 9: Peer Advisor Introduction Assembly

September 13, 2021

As the assembly in the Zhentao Lecture Hall began, the chatter stopped and the ninth-grade class turned their attention to the 11th graders presenting their projects, or, more importantly, the underclassmen’s future project. A large-scale mural composed of sticky notes with hopeful messages from students will be displayed in the Zhentao Building lobby, a joint effort of the 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. The students in the room excitedly turned to their peers discussing what they would write on their sticky notes, what they could share to brighten someone’s day.

Next, Ms. Ma introduced the Peer Advisor (PA) Program, with the purpose of providing support for Grade-9 and Grade-10 students through student lectures and tutorials. Passionate students can share their interests and tips with the school by giving lectures. Previous lectures were on app development, study habits, and time management. Interested students can join the four different departments: tutorials, lectures, journalism, and homeroom publicist. For the tutorials, students from all subjects and levels are welcome to come and teach; there is also an online option. In the journalism department, the PA Program is going to need a journalist, a text editor, an art editor, and a video photographer.

Finally, as the assembly came to an end, the students were all very thankful to have a program like the Peer Advisor Program to help connect the school and, moreover, create an environment in which students help each other out.
