Art Exhibition Notification: SHSID AP Visual Arts Exhibit

September 7, 2021

2021 is a year of harvest, and it is also the second year after College Board's curriculum reform since the covid-19 epidemic. In the past two years, many contents of the AP Drawing examination have undergone changes. Students are now required not only to create high-quality works, but also to demonstrate more process during work production. From subject matter, content and materials, to presentation of the final works, higher standards have been set for the students. Under the dual challenges, the AP Drawing students at SHSID have achieved excellent results through their own efforts.

The exhibition was completed by the 11 students from the 2020-2021 AP Drawing course of SHSID, with each student exhibiting 2-3 works from their portfolios. Their works cover various types of drawing methods, such as acrylic, watercolor, print-making, digital tablet painting, and the use of comprehensive materials. Students used artistic means such as capturing and digging, feeling and analyzing, integration and application to show objects around them. The works not only show their artistic expression of different subjects, but also demonstrate their skillful use and synthesizing of different materials.

Through this exhibition, we have seen a new exploration that incorporates more artistic expressions. Student works are no longer static paintings, but works that are more flexible and bolder, and meanwhile with malleability, diversity and creativity. This exhibition is not only a showcase, but also an invitation in the exchange of ideas. We hope that students and teachers can get involved through providing feedback and encouragement. Your valuable opinions are welcomed and appreciated as always.
