Dr. Seuss Whimsical Week

Dr. Seuss Week started this Monday and lasted for the whole week, Week2 (February 25-March1). During this whimsical week our first graders will learn all about the writer, Dr. Seuss, read many of his magical books, and incorporate his stories into our English as well as Science and Social Studies classes. All of the students get involved in this exciting time by participating in the activities and dress up according to the themes related to Dr. Seuss and his books!

On our Mixed up Monday, the children were welcome to wear “mixed up clothes” to school, such as shirts backwards or inside out. They read “Wocket in My Pocket” and learnt about Rhyming words. Each child even wrote their own rhymes to keep in their pocket!

On our Top Hat Tuesday, our students read “The Cat in the Hat” during class and each child made their own hats to wear during the day. They also made puppets of the characters in the book in their personal growth class.

On our Wacky Wednesday, the children were welcome to wear their craziest socks. They read “Oh My Many Colorful Days” and “Fox in Socks” in their English class and continued working on rhyming words and poems as well as grammar, incorporating capital letters and punctuation.

On Thursday, our students read “Oh! The Places You’ll Go!” All the children will have a chance to discuss what they want to be when they grow up. They will continue to work on Narrative writing. We will also make puppets of the Dr. Seuss characters “Thing 1” and “Thing 2”in Personal Growth Class.

This Saturday, March 2nd, is Dr. Seuss’s birthday. The children were welcome to dress up like their favorite Dr. Seuss character this Friday! They read Dr. Seuss’s famous book “Happy Birthday to You” and had a wonderful time celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday together.

All the students enjoyed this magical time as they explored Dr. Seuss through his whimsical world in Seussville! (Article: Jennifer; Picture: Jennifer)
