ASB election for Grade 11-12

September 19th2012 – On this sunny afternoon, all boys and girls from the XianMian building gathered once again in the auditorium of Shanghai High School. This time they were going to elect the suitable and dedicated ones among them to lead and serve ASB. Before the election, the candidates have already shown them off by the poster through the last week and this time they would stand on the stage to give the presentation for the last votes.

At 2:20 pm, under the guide of four honor ASB member, Jackie, Ray, Boris, and Daniel, all 38 potential ASBers stepped on stage to give promising speeches up to two minutes of length containing arguments to promote themselves. They were told by one of the honor member, Boris, that they should try their best to convince the crowd of their abilities and the advantages of voting them into the association of 11 junior and 6 senior student body representatives.

After that, the election began. In both Chinese and English, plans of schools parties have been proposed, guarantees for more fun have been provided, and offers to listen and help have been made. Furthermore, their talents are also shown on the stage. Andrew Tan from 11(1) lead other candidates to give a splendid dance to show his leadership and enthusiasm to the students work. Candice Kim from 12(9) used hiphop to illustrate her reasons to be anASBer and her plan about ASB. The

candidates gave awesome presentation and the audience enjoyed it very much. Just as one of the candidates Rina Wang said, “Please not only vote for me, but for everyone seated. They are all excellent ASBers!”

At the end of the speech, the four honor members asked everyone present - students as well as teachers - to put down their final votes before heading home.

No matter what the outcome is, let’s give all the candidates a big round of applause for their motivation and we all believe ASB will become better and better.
