IBDP

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is an assessed programme for students aged 16 to 19. It is respected by universities across the globe. The DP was established to provide students with a balanced education, facilitate geographic and cultural mobility, and to promote international understanding.

Most of students taking the IBDP in SHSID go on to attend one of the world’s top leading universities, and continued to lead in their chosen field afterward.

SHSID has committed itself to the development of the IBDP program ever since it became an IB World School in 1995. SHSID currently provides 27 courses across all six subject groups for IBDP students. In the past years, SHSID has made remarkable achievements in the IB Diploma program, averaging 41.0 in 2016, 42.2 in 2017 and 41.7 in 2018 (out of 45). SHSID is historically one of the most well-known schools in China, and around the world.

IBDP is open to Grade 11 and 12 students in SHSID. The DP organizes teaching and learning through six subject groups, underpinned by the DP core (Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and CAS (Creativity, Action and Service) ). Students choose a course from within each subject group. IBDP’s core components and special evaluation criteria make it a program of very high academic standards.
