New “Campus Complex” -- Hsi Building at Shanghai High School Officially in Use

The newly constructed Hsi Building at Shanghai High School, located on the west side of campus, officially opened in August 2024.

With a total construction area of 89,484.9 square meters, the building features two underground levels and six above-ground floors. It houses standard classrooms, specialized classrooms for music, physical education, art, and science, as well as teacher offices, conference rooms, teaching support rooms, and public activity spaces, including a Badminton Center, Gymnasium, sports activity rooms, Lecture Hall, and Library.



Designed as a comprehensive, multi-functional facility, the Hsi Building aligns with Shanghai High School’s philosophy of small-class teaching, emphasizing principles of sharing, openness, creativity, and flexibility. The building embodies the core concepts of a “Pre-existing Campus,” “Vertical Campus,” “Dynamic Campus,” and “Integrated Campus,” resulting in a high-density, multi-functional “campus complex.”



The design includes expansive horizontal platforms and corridors that seamlessly connect with the existing campus buildings!




The Hsi Building also integrates both Eastern and Western cultures, providing a space that welcomes all students and faculty of Shanghai High School to explore and engage.
