Aesthetic Appreciation of Facial and Dental Aesthetics
On November 28, 2024, Dr. Wu Yuqiong from the Ninth People's Hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine delivered a fascinating lecture for 9th and 10th-grade students. The lecture focused on the multidimensional exploration of facial and dental aesthetics. It was not only highly professional but also filled with engaging insights, deeply connecting the concept of aesthetics with students' career planning and future development.
Dr. Wu began the lecture by discussing the complex concept of "beauty," revealing the different interpretations and definitions of beauty throughout history and across cultures. Dr. Wu pointed out the similarities in the concept of facial aesthetics across different cultures, such as China’s ancient idea of "heaven and human unity" and the Western "golden ratio," both viewing "perfection" as an ideal state. Through this cross-cultural comparison, students were able to understand that beauty is not just superficial; it is deeply tied to wisdom, spirit, and personal cultivation.
In the latter part of the lecture, Dr. Wu focused on the aesthetics of teeth, introducing the concepts of "individual beauty of teeth," "whiteness aesthetics," and "pink aesthetics." More importantly, she highlighted the power of smile aesthetics: healthy, natural teeth can enhance personal charm, express confidence, and foster harmonious communication with others. As a result, students were encouraged to pay attention to oral health and understand the importance of dental care in shaping their aesthetic and personal image.
This lecture was not only a profound exploration of aesthetics but also an insightful guide for personal growth and career planning. Dr. Wu, through her expertise and engaging delivery, helped students better understand the multifaceted nature of beauty and provided valuable guidance for their future career paths. The connection between facial, dental aesthetics, and overall health encouraged students to reflect on how they can maintain balance in the pursuit of beauty—physically, mentally, and spiritually.
