Puxi campus Grade 8 | YD Education: Kindness and Altruism
Recently, teachers organized a meaningful YD class, with the aim of encouraging everyone to become kinder through small, practical actions. Surrounding the theme of "Increasing Kindness by 5%", this class not only taught eighth-grade students how to practice more acts of kindness in their daily lives but also profoundly influenced their mindset, inspiring them to bring a little warmth to those around them.
At the beginning of the class, students shared their understanding of the concept of "kindness" and the heartwarming stories they had personally experienced or witnessed in daily life. These shares not only demonstrated the students' keen observations but also reflected their deep concern for others. Through these real-life stories, kindness ceased to be an abstract concept and became specific actions embodied in the details of everyday life.
Next, the teacher used a form-filling activity to guide everyone in delving deeper into the meaning of acting out of kindness. This section sparked a lively discussion, with every student actively participating and expressing their views. Such interactions further deepened the students' understanding of the importance of kindness, making them realize that even the smallest act of kindness can have a profound positive impact on others. This deep exchange and reflection undoubtedly strengthened everyone's resolve to practice kindness.
To further stimulate active thinking, teachers led students to participate in a mind-mapping activity, engaging in "brainstorming" sessions centered around small acts of kindness that could be implemented in different scenarios. In this activity, each student selected 1 to 3 everyday acts of kindness and recorded these ideas. Subsequently, these valuable thoughts were not only shared within the class but also across class boundaries. This not only promoted communication and cooperation between classes but also allowed students to see more diverse ways to realize kindness.
Through the learning of this course, the students learned how to convey kindness through small yet genuine actions in their daily lives, turning the slogan of "Increasing Kindness by 5%" into a practical guide. Each small act of kindness is like a pebble thrown into a lake, causing ripples of kindness to be passed onward. It is hoped that all students can become messengers of kindness, contributing their own strength to create a more harmonious and warm society.
