Grade 12 Assembly: Girl’s Power in Flag Football

On December 27, Friday morning, Liya from class 12(10) shared her inspiring journey in flag football at the SHSID Grade 12 assembly. Liya's presentation highlighted the exciting growth of women's flag football, a rapidly expanding sport recently added to the 2028 Olympics. She detailed her personal experience, starting with an optional class in Grade 10, where she discovered her passion for the game.


Despite initial concerns about being the only girl on the team, Liya found a supportive and welcoming environment. She recounted the team's successes, including a third-place finish in the CYFL tournament and a first-place victory in the NFL Flag Football Schools Tournament. Liya emphasized the importance of female participation in traditionally male-dominated sports and encouraged her peers to try flag football, highlighting the inclusive and fun team atmosphere. Her presentation concluded with an invitation to join the team.
