March 5, 2025

The English Department's Reading-For-All Month began with an engaging and insightful lecture on Jane Austen on March 3, drawing a keen audience of students and teachers.

The event featured a distinguished Jane Austen scholar and translator, Ms. Wang Yan, who has completed translations of Austen’s eight-volume works. The speaker shared fascinating insights into Austen’s literary legacy, discussing timeless classics such as Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Sense and Sensibility.

Following a structured timeline, the lecture explored Austen’s keen social observations, enduring themes, and lasting influence on literature.

Attendees actively participated, asking thoughtful questions and deepening their appreciation of her works.

On the morning of March 3, students received their Reading-For-All booklets, marking the official start of a month-long literary journey. With booklets in hand, they eagerly delved into diverse stories, ready to explore new perspectives and engage with thought-provoking texts.

The first week's activities were hosted by the English and World Languages Group. It was a fantastic start to our month-long celebration of reading, and we look forward to more exciting literary events ahead!
