Grades 11-12 CAS: Self-Defense and Risk Management
On the afternoon of March 5, during CAS, students in grades 11 and 12 attended an engaging self-defense lecture in the Grand Auditorium. The speaker immediately got them involved with an interactive reflex exercise, ensuring that they were actively participating right from the start.
As students asked questions from the audience, the speaker invited them up on stage for live demonstrations. This hands-on approach made the lecture both informative and entertaining, allowing the students to better understand important concepts. One key demonstration involved a hotel safety feature: a box with a gas mask often found in hotel closets. The speaker explained how to properly use the mask, including how to unplug the nose area for easier breathing in case of an emergency.
The session also covered various self-defense techniques for different situations, helping students learn how to react to potential physical threats. These practical lessons were particularly relevant as many of the students are planning to study abroad. The lecture emphasized the importance of being aware and prepared, equipping them with essential knowledge for staying safe in unfamiliar environments.
Overall, the lecture was not only informative but also empowering, leaving students with the confidence and skills to handle unexpected situations as they embark on their next chapter of life.
