Grade 10 Assembly: Prevent Glorious Sunsets from Fading in Solitude
On the morning of March 19, Grade 10 students gathered at the Zhongxing Building B1 Theatre for their weekly morning assembly. This session primarily promoted lecture series and community service initiatives from two student clubs, along with reflections from participating members. Firstly, Spring and Elena introduced their club's expert lecture series for "2025 International Dental Care Day". They invited Dr. Pan Jie, a dental professional, to share insights on adolescent oral health and his personal experiences in pursuing dental studies during a lunchtime session on March 20.
Subsequently, Amanda presented her community service initiative, "Listening to the Stories of Time." This club serves elderly residents at the Third Senior Welfare Center of Xuhui District through monthly birthday celebrations, bi-weekly conversation sessions, and helping create handmade memoir keepsakes based on the residents' past stories.
Amanda highlighted how contemporary youth often lack attention and care for the elderly due to awkwardness or apprehension. She encouraged peers to use their compassion and strength to bring warmth and joy to solitary seniors. Beyond alleviating loneliness through companionship, the club aims to create enduring memories for the elderly and their families through student-led activities. Notably, she appealed to the audience and the broader community networks to enhance awareness of elderly needs, advocating for more support from the general public.
Concluding her presentation, Amanda invited the 10th graders to volunteer and join the club’s three core service teams: birthday celebrations, conversation sessions, and creative projects. Listen to the stories of time, touch the texture of years—let's prevent glorious sunsets from fading in solitude and collectively build enduring twilight with warmth and love.
