Grade 10: Excellent Sophomore Project Presentations Held

March 21, 2025

On the afternoon of March 19, during the final CAS class, the tenth-grade students gathered in the B1 theater of the Zhongxing Building to appreciate the presentations of twelve outstanding peers.

In the first semester, every student completed the preliminary tasks of the Sophomore Project, which included crafting a three-year plan, engaging in one-on-one discussions with teachers, collecting personal artifacts reflecting their identity, and writing reflective essays to articulate their significance. As the second semester unfolded, each class held its round of speech selections, ultimately choosing one final “contestant” to represent them in this grand grade-wide sharing session. Standing before their peers, these twelve students presented their self-exploration journeys, offering their answers to the profound question: “Who am I?”

Each student selected various academic and non-academic objects to symbolize their growth. Some spoke about the irreplaceable role of sports in their lives, sharing how it brings meaning and balance. Others delved into their insights on music, revealing the emotions and perspectives it evokes. Many expressed their unwavering passion for the visual arts and how it has shaped their identity. Beyond extracurricular pursuits, academic interests also played a vital role in many stories. Some students spoke of their enthusiasm for mathematics and the competitions they had participated in. Others reflected on how studying economics has influenced their way of thinking. Some students even shared how a single passage from a Chinese literature class left a profound and lasting impact on their perspective.

No matter the focus, every speaker presented a unique facet of themselves, gradually piecing together vibrant and diverse answers to the once-elusive question: “Who am I?” Before ther audience knew it, the class had come to an end in the blink of an eye. Yet, after hearing so many voices, we believe each student will continue to carve out their identity in the two remaining years of high school—discovering, understanding, and embracing who they truly are.
