March 21, 2025

On the afternoon of March 21, history and geography teachers from the middle and high school gathered in Room 116 of the Zhongxing Building for a discussion and exchange. The main objectives of the meeting included clarifying the overlapping parts of the middle and high school history and geography curricula, sharing effective teaching content, activities, and resources, and developing strategies for a smoother transition between different topics and grade levels.

In the meeting, the teachers were divided into groups according to the grades they teach and the themes they cover: the 6th and 9th-grade History teachers focused on “The Rise of Ancient Civilizations”; while the 7th and 10th-grade History teachers focused on “Cultures and Intellectual Movements”; and all the Geography teachers met in one group. Each group explored the key questions of How the Middle and High school teachers can collaborate to align historical content and skills progression, what collaborative strategies teachers can use to ensure continuity of historical thinking skills development across grade levels, and what strategies can be used to help students transition smoothly from Middle school to High school history/geography. Discussions and exchanges were lively, using Curriculum Content and Themes, Skills Development and Transition, Historical Thinking, Writing, Research Skills and Assessment, Classroom Activities and Resources, and the Use of Technology & AI Tools as entry points. The sharing session was beneficial to both Middle and High school History and Geography teachers.
