SHSID Stallions Clinch Interglobo Varsity Madness Championship After Months of Dedicated Preparation
The SHSID Stallions have emerged as champions of the 2025 Interglobo Varsity Madness Cup, capping off an undefeated run through one of the most competitive high school basketball tournaments in the region. Over the course of three days, SHSID faced off against top programs from around China, ultimately claiming the championship trophy in the final.
A Championship Journey
The tournament, inspired by the NCAA’s “March Madness,” brought together 12 elite high school teams. Each team brought intensity, talent, and high-level execution, making every matchup a true test of skill, preparation, and resilience.
SHSID began their campaign with a commanding 82–35 win over BANZ, setting the tone with fast-paced offense and stifling team defense. In the quarterfinals, the Stallions defeated QDHS 74–44. In the semifinal matchup, SHSID faced WLSA. It was a tightly contested battle, but SHSID held strong down the stretch, securing a 70–65 victory. The final game pitted SHSID against PAO, a familiar and respected rival. SHSID relied on its defensive discipline, rebounding, and mental toughness to emerge victorious, 54–50.
MVP Honors
Junior center Gavin was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament for his outstanding consistency across all four games. Averaging 12 points and 7 rebounds per contest, Zhao anchored the defense, controlled the paint, and provided timely scoring when it mattered most.
Preparation: The Foundation of Success
SHSID’s tournament success was no accident—it was the product of months of structured, high-performance training. In the weeks leading up to the event, the team committed to an intensive regimen that blended technical skill development with physical conditioning.
The Stallions held two basketball-specific training sessions per week, making full use of both the main gymnasium and the recently opened B2 training facility. The focus was not only on team tactics but also on precision shooting, particularly from long range. With the introduction of newly purchased Dr. Dish shooting machines, players completed thousands of shots in high-repetition drills designed to improve shooting accuracy and confidence under pressure.
In addition, the team benefitted from cutting-edge physical training in SHSID’s brand-new B1 Performance Center, working closely with their strength and conditioning coach to enhance speed, explosiveness, endurance, and injury prevention. These performance-based sessions played a critical role in ensuring that the Stallions were physically prepared to compete at a high level across multiple games in a short period.
