AI and Future Careers — Career Exploration in Grades 9-10 House Program
On the afternoon of April 2, 9th and 10th grade students gathered to participate in an inspiring and forward-looking event with their House mentors and members.
In the first session, mentors shared valuable experiences from their career journeys and offered professional advice on career planning. At the same time, combined with the understanding of the subject, related research and sufficient preparation, students are guided to pay attention to their own characteristics, future professional and career development trends and some specific exploration tools.Students then engaged in self-reflection and group discussions. Some began mapping out their academic and career paths by examining their interests, strengths, and aspirations, while others connected current passions with future professional goals to establish long-term learning objectives.
The second session, titled "Authors, AI Advisors and Autonomy" launched students on an enlightening career exploration. Guided by mentors, they used intelligent AI tools to systematically analyze their desired professions - examining development prospects, core competency requirements, academic programs, and career progression pathways. At the same time, as part of the Reading for All activities, students also summarized and designed long-term reading plans based on in-depth exploration of related fields. This personalized exploration allowed aspiring lawyers to study landmark cases and appreciate legal wisdom through AI, while future marine biologists investigated marine conservation using smart tools. The session culminated with House members collaborating to creatively merge personal interests with career visions, producing posters that vividly illustrated their transformative journeys from passion to profession.
Students reflected that this CAS activity, combining mentor guidance with AI assistance, equipped them with practical skills for future planning. Within their Houses, like-minded peers sparked intellectual synergy through career discussions. These interactions not only facilitated mutual learning but also broadened perspectives. The integration of AI technology provided fresh insights, enabling more efficient discovery of potential career paths.
