Hongkou Campus|Home-School Collaboration: Building Future Competitiveness
On the evening of April 2nd, the Parent Teacher Conference for Grades 1 and 2 of SHSID Hongkou Campus was successfully held. The event, structured around three pillars—academic guidance, expert lectures, and campus planning—established a new ecosystem for home-school collaboration, injecting fresh momentum into students' holistic development.
Academic Highlights: Pathways to Holistic Education
In classroom sessions, homeroom teachers presented parents with detailed overviews of the semester’s teaching plans, curriculum updates, and learning expectations for mathematics, Chinese, English, Science, and Social Studies. They emphasized discipline-specific goals, such as enhancing Chinese literacy through reading programs and cultivating mathematical number sense. Tailored to younger students’ cognitive development, teachers introduced interactive strategies like “gamified home learning” and “parent-child shared reading” to integrate educational objectives into daily life. Additionally, teachers outlined academic and behavioral expectations and previewed upcoming events to foster synergy between home and school education.
Scientific Nurturing: Decoding Growth Strategies
Parents then gathered in the auditorium for a lecture by Dr. Cai Qing, a professor from the Institute of Brain Science and Educational Innovation at East China Normal University. Titled Neuroscience of Early Learning and Cognitive Development, the session demystified the science behind effective parenting. Dr. Cai highlighted how positive emotions enhance neural synaptic plasticity to optimize learning outcomes and stressed that the development of children’s “social brain” relies on real-world interactions—such as conflict resolution and teamwork—fueled by high-quality parent-child engagement. Addressing common anxieties, she advised parents to “adopt a longitudinal perspective, focusing on each child’s unique growth trajectory rather than horizontal comparisons.” The lecture provided a framework blending scientific rigor and humanistic insight for family education.
Future Vision: A New Paradigm for Competency Development
Ms. Zhu Dan, Director of SHSID Hongkou Campus, unveiled the campus’s competency-oriented educational transformation strategy. The campus will prioritize five core future-ready competencies: self-directed learning, enduring curiosity, resilience, human-machine collaborative intelligence, and innovative problem-solving. To achieve this, the campus plans to expand sports facilities, introduce interdisciplinary electives, and diversify after-school clubs, offering students personalized growth pathways. “We are building an open, integrated, and forward-looking learning ecosystem where every child can chart their unique journey,” Ms. Zhu Dan stated.
This conference fostered alignment in educational philosophy through multi-dimensional dialogue. From classroom practices to broader developmental goals, home and school have achieved strategic synergy in nurturing future-ready talents, laying a solid foundation for a high-quality educational community.
