High School | "Lunch with Principal" Event Successfully Held: Hearts and Minds Converge, Growing Together
On April 25th and 27th, SHSID hosted the distinctive "Lunch with Principal" Event at Xianmian Building. In an open and inclusive atmosphere, Principal Ma engaged in candid and in-depth conversations with G9-12 student representatives about campus life and future development.
The April 25th session for G11-12 students focused on academic and extracurricular development as well as university planning. Addressing academic challenges, Principal Ma advised, "Maintaining a personalized learning pace is most important." While discussing club development, he encouraged seniors to take leadership roles and innovate activities, emphasizing: "The value of extracurricular activities lies in sustained passion, not short-term gains" – a perspective that prompted thoughtful reflection.
The April 27th meeting with G9-10 students focused on interest exploration and adapting to high school life. Students actively contributed suggestions about activity guidance, canteen services, and facility utilization, with Principal Ma responding to each point with actionable feedback. He encouraged students to develop time management skills and balance academics with activities, laying a foundation for the coming years.
Both sessions naturally converged on the theme of "choice and commitment." Principal Ma shared: "G9-10 students should embrace trial and error, while G11-12 students need to practice discernment. Choosing passions is easy; staying committed to choices is harder. True growth means taking ownership of your decisions." He pledged a thorough evaluation of all student proposals.
As a cornerstone of transparent communication, the "Lunch with Principal" Event has become an institutionalized practice. Such communication fosters direct student-administration exchanges while gathering grassroots insights for campus improvements. Moving forward, the school will expand diverse communication channels, empowering teachers and students to collaboratively shape an enriched educational ecosystem.
