Social Sciences Department: SHSID Mock Trial 2023 Fall Semester Recap

2023 has been a remarkable year for the Mock Trial Club, with significant milestones and passion from all of the members. This year, the club welcomed an influx of eager new recruits, bringing energy, fresh perspectives, and diverse skills to the table. The club strives to equip its members with the skills to become attorneys and witnesses while explaining the intricacies of various procedural laws, such as the Rules of Evidence.

With four teams participating in the International Mock Trial, the mock trial rookies brought home honorable mention and the spirit of IMT award, but most importantly, real experience. Earlier on in the year, the senior members competed in Empire Interstellar, Empire Spring, and Tournament of Champions, all times placing in the Top 10 of the Premier League. This year the club also had a competitor to compete in the Gladiator Mock Trial, a reputational competition as well.

Looking back at this incredible journey, it is not just about the awards but rather raising the bar for the future. 2023 marks just the beginning of an exciting voyage in mock trial for many SHSID students and the advancement of mock trial in China as a whole. The exceptional energy, enthusiasm, and engagement brought forward by SHSID students make the club hopeful and excited for the upcoming year. The club has its regular trainings every Tuesday afternoon and posts updates on its wechat account: MockTrialSHSID.
