G1 | Puxi Grade One:New Students Are Coming!
August 31st, The primary school section of Puxi campus welcomed its new grade one students with a lively student orientation activity.
The little cuties held their parents’ hands and walked into the lobby of the elementary school building. As soon as they entered, they were surrounded by the ocean atmosphere, and ocean-themed decorations everywhere: little crabs, seahorses, big-headed octopuses. These friendly aquatic creatures seemed to greet them and welcome them to the new school, bringing in a new chapter of learning.
Further inside, there was the brand new corridor and classroom of grade one. This summer vacation, the grade one classrooms were renovated intensively. A row of warm yellow lights made the whole corridor brighter. A bathroom was also added at the end of the corridor for class division. Moving inside the classroom, many new cabinets were added, allowing the teachers to prepare more books for the children to read, and more interesting experimental equipment for the children to operate. Under the arrangement of the teachers, the classroom has been “dressed” and ready to welcome the little cuties.
One by one, the little cuties curiously peeked into the classroom, eagerly exploring the upcoming elementary school life. With the help of their parents, they tidied up their own cubbies and visited their respective classrooms. Throughout the school, meaningful and symbolic elements are at play. The Growth Mindset posters on the wall are to help them discover their inner strength; the schedule and class goals by the door are to guide them to find their goals and direction in the passage of time; the reading corner is to tell them that they can explore the wonderful world of diversity without leaving home; the calm corner is to help them learn to accept themselves and talk to their emotions; various student duties are to let the children feel the self-achievement brought by helping others. Each class is a mini world, where the new students will learn to grow into independent learners and qualified world citizens.
The bell rang, and the new students immediately sat down in their seats and waved goodbye to their parents. The teachers were kind and gentle, and eased their tension and worries with soft words. The interesting self-introduction activity also allowed them to quickly get to know each other. Under the guidance of the teacher, they learned how to follow the class rules, arrange their break time reasonably, and tidy up their cubbies and backpacks. These small challenges made them aware and proud of being a real primary school student!
After the activities, the new students had to take the school bus home independently for the first time with the help of the teacher and bus administrator. The teachers cheered for them while silently guarding their safety. The teachers carefully escorted them to their respective bus stops, while bus administrators kindly completed a series of verification work before escorting them onto buses.
Now that the new students have arrived, the new school year has set sail! We hope that the grade one cuties who are full of curiosity and expectation will grow happily and harvest hope in SHSID primary school’s big family!
