Puxi Campus Grades 1-3: Sports Carnival

October 12, 2022

Race with the autumn wind, exercise with the early birds. On October 11th, G1-3 students at Puxi Campus welcomed the sports carnival excitedly, together with the cool autumn wind and fragrance of sweet-scented osmanthus.

With the exciting music, the students from Grade 1 to Grade 3 walked into the outdoor basketball court in orderly fashion and all in good spirits. Different grades of students were holding different colors of pompons, grade one was red, which shows the spirit of perseverance; The second grade was blue, which represents the sporting spirit of calm; The third grade was silver, which indicates the joy after completing every exercise. After all the students sat down, the sports carnival officially began. First, Lorraine, our student representative from Class 2 (5), shared the fun and changes that exercise has brought her during her four years of training as a trampoline athlete. She also encouraged all her peers to find a sport they love just as she has done. Later, Ms. Zhang Yi, the director of Grades 1-3 at SHSID Puxi campus, gave a speech, encouraging students to enhance teamwork and enjoy sports. After the excellent speeches, the students’ cheerleading performance brought the atmosphere of the opening ceremony to a climax. The music was lively and lovely, and the students were full of energy. They waved their hands and stretched their bodies. Every guest felt the children’s high enthusiasm, as well as their attitude of endeavor!

As Mr. Liu Lian, SHSID middle and primary school principal, announced the official start of the sports carnival, the students took turns to experience a variety of sports games among the three venues. Tortoise Dash, Roller- Coaster Relay and Ball Control Relay tested the students' teamwork ability. In Tortoise Dash, five people entered the large turtle balloon and ran forward together as a group. Some groups cooperated very well. They shouted slogans to make their small turtle swinging limbs fast forward. It was interesting to see that some groups moved at a different pace, leading the turtle head east, tail west, and staggering forward! Obstacle Relay and Cross the River test the students' coordination skills. Our children weaved through these obstacles, whizzing from end to end before the camera could keep up with them. On the other side of the field, we heard the sound of “chickens”. It turned out to be children throwing the toy of screaming chickens, competing to see who could throw them the furthest. The court was full of fun!

Although the happy games have ended, the love of sports has been deeply rooted in the hearts of every child. Through the games, not only did they learn the importance of not giving up, the spirit of striving for the top, but also the spirit of teamwork, We believe that this sports spirit will guide our students to strengthen the body, and hone the will to become a well-rounded world citizen with excellent physical quality and dedication in the future.
