Foreign Teachers' Summer Orientation Summary

September 8, 2022

From the 22nd to the 31st of August, the Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai High School International Division organized an orientation for foreign teachers for the 2022-2023 school year. The orientation lasted 8 days; the first 2 days were for new teachers and the remaining 6 days were for all foreign teachers. Due to the epidemic prevention and control measures in place, the orientation was conducted online and offline simultaneously. At the opening ceremony of the orientation, Helen, the coordinator of HR, welcomed all the new foreign teachers to the team and proposed the requirements for creating a dedicated, responsible, and committed team, hoping that the new teachers would adapt to the work rhythm of SHSID as soon as possible and be able to show their talents.

The orientation covered the application of multimedia equipment in classrooms, introduction to the school curriculum, first aid skills training and assessment, and the presentation of Chinese legal knowledge. During the training for all teachers, several sessions were held to exchange and share teaching experiences, watch public video lessons, and conduct round-table discussions. During the training, Mr. Ma Feng, principal of SHSID high school, and Mr. Liu Lian, principal of SHSID middle and primary school, introduced the diverse curriculum of SHSID and explained the challenges facing the school and their expectations for the new school year: they hope that the foreign teachers will be student-centered, develop students' independent learning skills from an early age, create more opportunities for students, and work diligently for the future and success of their students.

The teachers felt very rewarded after the training and will start the 2022-2023 school year with confidence!
