Middle School Subjects Department: VEX School Team of SHSID Won 2020-2021 VEX Online Skills Challenge Third Place in Both Senior Group and Junior Group

VEX VRC is a global robotics competition. , As an international robotics competition that has been twice recorded in Guinness World Records, it attracts millions of students every year. More than 20000 teams from 50 different countries compete for qualification in the world competition. This online skills competition is held by live online.

Since its establishment in 2019, the VEX team of Shanghai High School International Division has existed for one year. This is the second time that they have officially participated in the VEX competition, which is also a historic occasion. Senior high school group team (3219a), composed of ninth grade student Roland Zhang and eighth grade student Ryan Shi, won third place in the senior high school group competition. Eighth grade student Eric Zhang also won third place in the junior high school group competition participating alone as a junior high school group team (3219m). All of them successfully achieved qualification for the annual VEX world competition held in the United States! Congratulations!

Roland Zhang, as an engineering expert, worked hard for one year preparing for the 2020 VEX World Championships but was regrettably suspended due to the pandemic situation. Fortunately, VEX’s first online skills competition was held in September this year. Roland practiced the day before the game and didn’t go home until 9:30 p.m., and then he went directly to the game the next morning. Winning the world championship qualification is not only the recognition of Roland’s efforts, but also the recognition of and encouragement for the Vex school team of Shanghai High School International Division. The Vex school team of SHSID will certainly build on past achievements and open up to the future to earn great achievements again!
