Sailed the Ocean's Roar — 2020 SHSID Announcement of AP and IB Results

SHSID offers three mainstream international courses - AP, IB and A-level. These characteristic courses work as a trinity, meeting students' personalized academic development needs, and allowing our students to develop autonomously.

2020 is an extraordinary year. Thanks to the rich accumulation of teaching practices, the school has quickly rose to new challenges and has thus, ensured the successful meeting of this semester’s educational objectives. Time has slipped away to mid-July, providing us with a moment to illustrate our performance in solid figures. The resilience of all teachers and students has resulted in a string of incredible data. However, this data does not tell the full story and the magnitude of our achievements.The data alone cannot be used to define us at SHSID as we aim to produce not only high-achieving students, but virtuous, dedicated and versatile students who strive to become life-long learners. The payback from our dedication actually nourished SHSID to a superior stage-- an upward and dynamic SHSID with virtue.

AP Examination Results

According to 2020 AP College Board Examination Report, SHSID students have scored top marks as always:

3 Grade 11 AP students took 3 AP exams/person on average

4.5 The average score of an AP course remained 4.5 (full mark of 5)

87% Over 87% AP courses have scored 4+ (full mark of 5)

26 AP exams our students participated in have covered as many as 26 subjects, including Language & Literature, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Art and etc.

839 SHSID students have participated in 839 AP exams

(Note: Affected by Covid-19, 2020 AP Exam has be changed to online assessment, duration cut to about 1-hour, at midnight China local time)

IB Examination Results

The overall subject results released by International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) of 2020 IBDP Candidates are as follows:

100% All SHSID Diploma Candidates were awarded IBDP diploma

95% Over 95% Diploma Candidates have obtained 7/6 in all subjects (29% globally)

93% Over 93% Diploma Candidates have obtained A/B in Theory of Knowledge (English) (34% globally)

75% Over 75% Diploma Candidates have obtained A/B in Extended Essay (34% globally)

4 4 Diploma Candidates have obtained full mark of 45 points. (141 Candidates globally)

(Note: Affected by Covid-19 also, International Baccalaureate Organization has announced the global cancellation of May Examination in March, 2020. Grades were awarded for the May 2020 session through an IB awarding model. The awarding model has three components: Student coursework, School grades, and School context)

The above AP/IB evaluation data is not the final result. Some AP/IB students are still in the application process of re-marking, and the subsequent results will not be released to the public.

In later August, A-level results will be announced. We wish all our SHSID students to obtain excellent results beforehand!

Outstanding results are always crystallized by the efforts and hard work of all teachers and students, whilst the professional development of teachers is the empowering backbone structure. After the satisfactory completion of this semester, SHSID teachers carried out Continued Professional Development training in full swing. During the 9-day activity, teachers have actively shared their education and teaching experience, in aims of supporting the sustainable and healthy development of SHSID’s learning community and exploring more possibilities in student development.

During Covid-19, our school has accumulated rich experience in both online education and blended online-offline education, which has laid a solid foundation for education and teaching preparation during the normalized period of epidemic prevention and control.
