Grade 10: Daily PE Exercises

April 8, 2020

The sudden outbreak of the coronavirus has resulted in both students and teachers attending online classes to ensure the safety of the school population. Therefore, the teachers in the physical education (PE) department decided to implement a series of physical education courses that aim to maintain the health and wellbeing of students even during this special lockdown period.

To make sure that students get their necessary exercise, the teachers in the PE department implemented an online recording system that requires students to log their daily exercise routines and activities in terms of warm up, upper strength, lower strength, cardio, aerobics, and cool down activities. After a certain period of time, students who showed exceptional dedication and discipline in their exercises were awarded the “Outstanding Home Exercise” honor to celebrate their commitment.

Aside from self-regulated exercises, students also participate in regular “home sports” courses designed by the PE department. These courses are carefully devised to be carried out in small environments where students can turn on their cameras so that PE teachers can monitor their progress. The courses cover a wide range of sports from track and field to Kendo and dart throwing, while also allowing students to engage in a series of specialized exercises under the supervision of their PE teachers. Throughout the entire process, students are encouraged to voice any feedback in order to improve the process of online teaching and help promote healthier habits for students in their day-to-day lives.
