Grade 10: Club Activity Sharing – This is Colors
The third week CAS sharing was done by the Colors club. Colors focuses on building an online storytelling platform. Either through the WeChat public account or the website, Colors offers hundreds of stories in multiple languages. Stories from different cultures are available: Chinese, English, French, Malay, Korean, German, Nepali, and so on. The club has grown due to the advantages provided by our linguistically diverse school, which has students from all parts of the world.
The start of Colors can be traced back to 2016. At that time, it was not yet an official school club. A few 7th-grade students founded a service-learning group called "皮卡书屋", which was active in a public library that held storytelling sessions. It was their first glance into the world of public service. This project lasted for two years. At the point when the library shut down, the students decided to make it a club. One thing led to another, new ideas were formed, and new things were created. They established a club, different from "皮卡书屋" project, an original club—Colors.
During this special period of time, Colors wanted to do something. Two members of the club wrote a story to support the doctors working on the front lines, and others were put in charge of different tasks. By March 14th, their story was completed. It had an accompanying comic, a translated version, and audio. Later, on March 18th, the video version of the story was uploaded onto their Bilibili account. As students, they don’t have the financial ability to provide aid in this event. Instead they choose to use their unique way of expression to give a little support to the people who might need it.
Taking a step back, they are just teenagers with computers and microphones, here to provide stories to those who would listen. They are grateful to have an audience alongside them, viewing their growth and supporting them. Even if it’s just a little click of a button on their stories, they appreciate it. They are not yet satisfied with what they’ve done and will aim high to achieve more. Entering contests, increasing traffic to their sites, and gaining more attention are only chapter one of the story of Colors. After all, they are ready to enter the rising action. With years ahead of them, they are prepared to grow and improve. They’re not sure what’s ahead, but they are encouraged to flip to the next page, and then the next, then the next. So beware, because here comes chapter two.
