Middle School: Awards of SHASTIC
In the afternoon of March 11, 2020, a group of SHSID students was anxiously waiting for the result of the 35th Shanghai Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest. They have gained a lot of valuable experiences during their preparation for this competition.
Middle School Student Contest Result
In March of 2019, a group of students, who love science and engineering, got together and started a one-year innovational journey. Some students, who had participated in the SHASTIC in the past few years, kept their passion for science and engineering. Some students, who were new to science and technology, were very interested in science and became a group of little scientists. These students came to sign up for the 35th SHASTIC. With more than three months of training by science teachers, the students have had a deeper understanding of scientific research and learned how to find and read articles, how to do experiments safely, and how to write scientific papers.
In July, this group of children came to the Chinese Academy of Sciences and universities. Under the guidance of professional tutors, they turned theories learned in school into practice and experiments. In the experiments, there was sorrow in failure and joys of success. Throughout the two-month period, the students were exposed to a lot of high-tech experimental equipment and had mastered a lot of professional knowledge. After experiencing the real life of researchers, they have had a new understanding of the challenges faced by scientists.
Project: Intelligent Medicine Box of the Solitary Elderly
In September, when the students returned to school, they were excited to share their "exclusive" experiences in CAS and universities with their friends. The school arranged teachers in our school for these students to help them complete experiments, organize data, and write papers. The elective course periods every Friday were when everyone sat, quietly sorted data and wrote papers.

In February 2020, with the sound of the New Year's bell, the 35th SHASTIC also came to the end. At the moment when they pressed the submission button, all students felt relaxed.

In the afternoon of March 11th, students finally received the good news from the SHASTIC officials, and all their efforts received equivalent returns. Congratulations to everyone on the list! I hope that this competition can promote students' interest in scientific research and maintain their love in science!
