March 20, 2020

Although the school has been closed due to the epidemic attack, the primary students at SHSID have been learning and enjoying a lot through E-learning on LC platform since March 2nd. Aside from academics, the teachers care about students’ physical and mental health as well. Many parents have been really appreciative of the well-designed indoor physical exercises and eye-protection tips shown on the LC.

All the first graders have been keeping frequent online communication with their teachers. The students read and recited Chinese poems to their teachers and showed their talents online through Zoom meetings. When everyone laughed and greeted their teachers and peers online, they felt the warmth and care from their class as a close and united team.

All the second graders have been experts at E-learning after more than one year of training at school. The second grade teachers have explored many useful functions on Seesaw as a means to assist the students communicating with each other and handing in homework with high efficiency. To arouse the students’ enthusiasm for E-learning, the teachers have initiated lots of challenging online games such as Special Skill and a Plank Challenge to interact with the students.

In order to ensure the effectiveness of online learning and to foster students’ independent learning and self-management skills, the third grade teachers worked cooperatively to create a unique learning experience for students. The students kept on with the theme education HEROES online since the morality and character education is always crucial for them. There are many other splendid content on LC for the third graders as well. Many activities, such as Classic Music Sharing, Online Dancing Studio, and Hand-Made Crafts Studio, ensured that the students develop and grow holistically.

From March 16, there will be one primary student from each class sharing a video with all the primary teachers and students about their daily schedules and experiences of studying online. That will encourage more and more students to study hard with high efficiency online. All the primary teachers are expecting all the children to come back to school very soon!
