High School Economics Department: Lecture on Alibaba's Corporate Culture

On the morning of December 18th, SHSID hosted an informative lecture given by Ms. Liu, the head of Human Resources at Alibaba. Ms. Liu gave an overview of the company history, mission, vision, and values first, thereby allowing the students to understand what skills and mindsets they need to succeed in business in the 21st century.

Ms. Liu began her lecture by introducing the history of Alibaba, then Ms. Liu further explained Alibaba’s mission, vision, and values. She stressed Alibaba’s values, which are grouped under the term “six-power swords.” This includes passion, integrity, commitment, teamwork, embracing change, and customers first. Ms. Liu encouraged the students to start from daily commitments and small matters with the understanding that these values demand a very big personality which is built up over time.
