Puxi Grade 2 Native Chinese Group: Let’s do a “Circle Chat”

December 20, 2019

On this week, Puxi Grade 2 native Chinese group conducted a unique oral communication activity called “Circle Chat”.

“Circle Chats,” today's cooperative learning strategy and is a great way to get your students out of their seats and interacting! The purpose of this oral communication is to help children learn how to express their requests politely and respond to other's requests properly.

When the chat began, all class will be divided in half. One half will create an inner circle; the other half will make up the outer circle. Students in the outer circle will ask questions of the students in the inner circle. And after a set period of time, the teacher signals and the inner circle rotates and pairs-up with a new student.

After today’s class, students began to realize how to listen carefully to the requests of others, and how to take care of each other's feelings and reasonably express their wishes. All students are fully engaged and actively communicate with each other.

It’s a good way to continuously improve their Chinese expression ability and allow students to practice speaking and listening skills.
