Go Stallions Swim Team!
The Stallions Swim Team had a great weekend in Beijing! Our swimmers achieved stellar results at the 2019 Water Cube Invitational Swim Meet on November 29th. The Stallions were ranked 6th overall and 3rd among international schools. In the fiercely competitive individual events, our swimmers bagged 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 9 bronze medals and numerous awards in top eight positions.
Greeted with the first snow of the year in Beijing, the parents and athletes were very enthusiastic. Arriving very early at the pool, parents in the observation stands formed a cheerleading group. The 48 athletes participated in a total of 144 individual events.
The audience held their breath as the referee blew the whistle and the swimmers dove into the pool for the Boys’ 11-12 4*50m freestyle relay. The audience started to cheer for the swimmers. Finally, after the last 5-meter sprint, they pushed into the wall. The scores appeared on the screen. The Stallions were the first team to finish the competition.
When they finished all of the events, Beijing was already in its early evening with all the streetlights on in the chilly winter. Swimmers and their parents celebrated their well-deserved success with their hard-working coaches. All swimmers were inspired by the team spirit and strong support from their coaches and parents. They look forward to the next challenge. The best way to wrap up a grueling 12-hours in the pool is to enjoy scrumptious food and to win prizes in lucky draw games. Kudos to Coach Sun, Coach Du, Coach Zhu and our hardworking swimmers!
