Puxi Second Grade: Yuyin Peking Opera Club Conducts Lectures for Students

On November 7th, the Yuyin Peking Opera Club was invited to hold an interactive lecture for the second-grade students at SHSID.

First, the teacher discussed the four important roles in Peking Opera and explained the representative actions of different characters. The teacher then went on to explain the meanings of different colors used in Peking Opera and encouraged the students to discover new meaning in accordance with the colors on the actors’ faces.

The teacher then asked the students to come to the stage to experience the waving of the horse whip during a performance. Students were a bit nervous, but they did their very best! The teacher then quizzed the students by asking questions about Peking Opera.

The students were all excited after this talk and now have a basic understanding of Peking Opera. Hopefully someday in the future our students will be able to become the inheritors of Peking Opera!
