Middle School Biology Department: 7th Graders Measured the Surface Area of the Skin

An interesting experiment about the skin’s surface area was done on October 30th. First, the students picked one person to be the model. Next, they wrapped pieces of newspaper around the person and attached them with tape. Then the students cut the newspaper off and put it on the floor to form a giant rectangle. Lastly, the students measured the length and width of the rectangle and found the surface area of their classmate’s skin. This activity encouraged the students to work together while generating a lot of fun.
