Congratulations! SHSID Students Won SIC U.S. Finals Championship

Students from Grade 10 went to Omaha from May 1st to May 6th to attend the SIC U.S. Finals and successfully won the competition championship!

SKT Investment Challenge, also known as SIC, creates an investment challenge for middle school students. SIC 2019 chose Warren Buffet’s concept of “value investment” as its theme and invited middle school students to conduct an online investment competition. During the competition, the team not only operated the simulation stock trading system excellently, but also organized their ideas into a 15-page report. Finally, their two-month investment strategy was presented to the judges and experts in the field of investment.

This is the first time SHSID high school students competed in the event and the results were incredible. Our team won the championship in Team Overall Stock Portfolio and 10(6) Peter Ding, 10(7) Austin Hui, and 10(7) Felix Huang won the Annual Value Investment Youth Award for their individual speeches.

After the competition, the team members reflected, “The most exciting thing in the past few months has been the ups and downs of the stock market. Every night, we meet on time to discuss the industry trends, corporate earnings, and the daily financial news. These various factors became a large portion of our investment strategy and provided us with a conclusion of what stocks to include in our investment portfolios. We believe that in this competition, it’s not only the improvement of basic investment knowledge that matters, but also the change and growth of the overall understanding and concept of investment. We believe this is only the start of our investment experience and is definitely a stepping stone for a future “killing” in the stock market.”
