Grade 7: Mr. Eceiza Urdangarin’s Spanish Presentation to 7-11 CAS Class
The 7-11 CAS Cultural Bazaar Spanish project featured an informative presentation on Spain by guest speaker and Spanish National, Mr. Eceiza Urdangarin.
During this talk, Mr. Eceiza Urdangarin discussed broad range of topics in great detail, including geography, art, historical Spain, the Catholic Church, sport, fiestas, traditions, and food.
Did you know that Spain has the 3rd largest Volcano in the world? Did you also know that Spain once had the largest Maritime fleet in the world? The students were highly engaged throughout the lecture and were keenly interested to know more about Spanish traditions and festivals. Mr. Eceiza Urdangarin explained that there are 3000 festivals a year in Spain and the students were highly curious to know more about Bull Fighting, La Tomantina (‘The Tomato Fight’), and Spain’s healthy Mediterranean diet. This provided the students with great insight into Spain’s 35,000+ year history and global influence upon the world, which helped the class choose topics that they are really enthused about.
The class is now divided into three teams (Spanish Decor, Food Cuisine and Festivals) and are researching their chosen areas within their groups. Later, they will come together to bring out the spirit of Fiesta, Artistry, Mediterranean flavor, and Spanish culture to this year’s SHSID Cultural Bazaar.
7-11 would like to once again thank Mr. Eceiza Urdangarin for his time and interest in supporting our CAS Cultural Bazaar project! Gracias Señor!
