Grade 6: A Children's Day Chinese Poem Carnival

Last Thursday, my Chinese class celebrated our last Children's Day very differently from usual. We did not exchange gifts, nor did we play around— every one of us had to read a poem written by children, from the book 'Children's Poems'. Although almost all the poems were very short, they still contained the incredible imagination and 'super metaphors' of a child. This may be our last childlike memory before stepping into the 'depths' of Middle School. We also brought loads of snacks to share with our fellow classmates, and they all tasted fantastically delicious. Our backpacks, folders, pencil cases...they were all filled with tasty snacks.

However, what I truly liked was the poems we read. The poem 'The Light Made a Hole in the Darkness' was filled with a childlike tone. The author of this poem did not include various metaphors and personifications— they simply used a child's most wonderful imagination to illustrate the scene of a light in darkness.

All in all, this event was truly fabulous, and I really enjoyed it.
