Puxi Grade 5: Youth Development – Goal Setting

Last week, the students of Grade 5 had their Youth Development class. This time, it was about goals and how to set them.

In the first class, teachers mainly talked about how goal setting is important for us. They then asked the students to come up with some examples of famous people. Some students suggested star athletes, some named famous movie stars and scientists, and some said their parents. Then, after looking at a few quotes on the topic, the students learned that goal setting, hard work, and loving the thing you do are all very important.

During the second class, the students were divided into groups of two to help each other with their goal setting. Together, they reviewed how to make SMART goals. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-based. They will write their goals on down on paper and try their best to accomplish them.

What did the students take away from this class? Simple: if you have a goal, then you'll try to accomplish it. If you accomplish it, you'll set another goal. Step by step, you'll gradually become better and better. And now, set a goal for yourself!
