Survive or Challenge, Are you ready for the Outdoor Survival training course?
Survive or Challenge, Are you ready for the Outdoor Survival training course?
Do you like to camp, hike, mountain bike, kayak, and or spend a lot of time off the road in remote areas? Did you work for an agency or organization that provides humanitarian relief, emergency assistance and rescue? Are you planning on joining the military? Have you ever thought about taking some basic outdoor survival classes but you just didn't know where to look for them? SHSID high school provides students with a variety of programs included in the Outdoor Survival Training Course designed to teach students the necessary skills on how to survive and thrive in the outdoors. The Course offers students realistic training in the outdoors.Participants in this training are issued with all the necessary outdoor equipment like tents, lifejackets, pots, etc. Students will learn how to assemble their own survival kit, erect different types of shelters, start fires, how to collect, filter and purify water, trap game, how to determine directions without a compass, and other important survival skills.
On the morning of April 27thl, a group of instructors came to the Zhongxing building to teach the students of Grade 10 fun survival skills, and show them how to work with nature and its resources to survive. The instructors demonstrated techniques associated with the six essential concepts of wilderness survival: shelter, firecraft, food finding, water purification, off-trail navigation and rescue signaling. After the class, students headed to ‘the Oriental Land’ and were ready to challenge themselves by spending two days in the outdoors.
The students prepared their first meal upon arrival. Since they would receiveno special treatment, the students had a desire to cook and work well with each other as a team. After the cooking competition, the training continued on. Wearing bright orange lifejackets, students go onboard a boat and took up the oars. Ten people per boat worked together to steer in the right direction. Hours of entertainment with games prepared by ASB members brought the students joy and relaxation after a whole day’s training and work. Morning exercises and large group games were the last two main parts on the second day of survival training. The students acquired experiences on their own by practicing the skills the instructors taught them.
An outdoor survival course provided the students with the practical experience necessary to handle many kinds of problems that could arise in the wilderness. A training course will increase students’ skills and knowledge and make their next adventure safer and more enjoyable.
Keep mind and conscience clear, then never fear.
