Grade 11: Safety Education

After the fifth period, all of the 11th and 12th graders returned to their homeroom, wa-iting for the upcoming fire drill. A fire truck slowly came near to the Xian Mian building. Soon after, a fierce siren rang all over the building; students immediately got out of their classrooms and walked down the stairs orderly and quietly. When we got out of the building, there was a frosty smog with a weird smell filled the air around the Xian Mian building. Simultaneously, students who volunteered earlier in the day escaped the building from the window of second floor. The firefighters invited to the school set the ladder on the window frame. With the help of the firefighters, all of the students in the classroom were able to escape by climbing down the ladder safely.

After successfully finishing the fire drill, we gathered in the hall and heard a lecture addressed by a well-experienced firefighter-- officer Zhao. The lecture was mainly composed of four parts, which were: the basic regulations of fire extinguishment, the ways to prevent a fire, instructions to use the fire extinguisher correctly, and common senses of fire escaping. In addition, Zhao officer also shared his own experiences and showed us some instructive videos about escaping from a fire scene.

The fire drill activity was very successful and instructive. No one got hurt; every one learned lots of useful information about different sectors of the fire escaping.

The fire drill activity is indeed really vital to ensure the safety of all of our school members. So, we should get more alarmed to be prepared for any emergencies and act correctly and calmly as we did in this fire drill.
